The Stone Sink Story UK to NZ to AUS!
Over the last 15 years, our founder, James Tatham has spent extensive time in
Indonesia. He’s a bit of an adrenalin junky! Surf, Ski you name it, he’s
probably done it! James is known for cutting his own track in life. His
inquisitive, adventurous and engaging nature takes him to some of the most
beautiful places on this planet seldom discovered by regular tourists. During
such a trip around the magical island of Java, a unique indigenous stone
workshop was found and an idea formulated. The products from this workshop were
truly out of this world!
James found that there was a niche in the UK market for the amazing
items produced in the workshop – the quality was astounding, and the
production fitted within James’s ethical boundaries – The Stone Sink
Company was born! Initially focussing on an eclectic variety of
stone sinks and basins – new products are in the pipeline with a focus on
outdoor furniture, accessories and more.
So how has the Stone Sink Company expanded to New Zealand and Australia… My name is
Marian Williams known to most as Maz. James and I are life long friends, and
during an extended trip back to my home land of Wales in 2022 James and I
caught up regularly at our small costal home town of Morfa Nefyn. He asked me
to help him out at his warehouse. So off I went! Iv’e always known what James
does for a living but I had never experienced it, and to be honest I was blown
away by all of it! The products are so beautiful, natural, unique and they all
have a story – SO ANOTHER IDEA BEGAN TO FORMULATE! We quickly began to hatch a
plan the stars were aligned for both of us – James ready to expand his
business, and myself ready to explore and expand my career. I had the
facilities on hand to house this operation so we hit the ground running. With careful
guidance and expertise from James, HERE I AM! So proud of what we have achieved
so far in such a short time and let me tell you this is just the beginning!

The Stone Sink Company aims is to provide you with the highest quality stone
products, bar non. However, to do this we will not exploit our workers –
our products are handmade to the highest standards by traditional craftsmen.
The Stone Sink Company does not retail mass-produced sinks produced in a third
world sweat shop. Labour costs are naturally lower in Indonesia than the
western world, but The Stone Sink Company believes in paying a fair wage
to allow our workers to live a happy existence.
